Some project goals I’ve set for myself in the coming year. I’ll be sure to share details of how things come out… but if you’d like some advice on these ideas now, I’ve included links to the blogs I enjoy!
Start a raspberry patch.
My strawberries have been in for two years now, and are spreading well. But raspberries are my daughter, Annabelle’s special request. And thinking of gardening, I also resolve to continue to grow more veggies in addition to my flower beds… groceries (and even trips to the farmers market) are getting costly.

Make over my awful mudroom.
New paint, more storage, better organization. I want one of the super cool catch-all areas on this clever blog! Instead, I have one, big sloppy mess. Whatever work I do will have to be very inexpensive, since my remodeling budget for 2009 is nonexistent.

Cocktail like a grownup.
With two children under the age of five, adult activities are sheer luxury. Resolved: To spend at least one evening per week testing a new and delightful adult beverage on my lovely front porch, with my lovely husband.

Sew slipcovers for my outdoor furniture.
I hunted for white vintage bedding all last summer. Now it is time to turn these gently worn bedspreads into practical, washable slipcovers. Last summer I refinished the wooden set of patio furniture I nabbed for just $60 (in the basement of a favorite antique mall)… this year I need to make the bright yellow, all-weather, 1970’s inspired cushions into less of an eyesore. Wish I could just order a gorgeous new set from Pottery Barn… but have to be mindful of our household budget.

Finally get that flea market hutch repaired and painted.
This will take a wee bit of husband prodding.

Find a song - - just one song - - that I can actually sing on Guitar Hero.
Having massacred everything from Fleetwood Mac to Michael Jackson, I’ve resolved to actually (geekily) practice in private before volunteering to take the microphone. Ever. Again.
